JSON & Markdown Toolbox Privacy Policy

中文版本:隐私政策. User agreement: User Agreement.

JSON & Markdown Toolbox (the “extension”) shows a readable page when you open JSON or Markdown directly from the address bar. The extension is free, has no account, and contains no ads.

What we read

The extension reads only the body of the document in the current tab, to decide whether it is JSON or Markdown and to display it. It does not read later requests made by that page, browsing history, bookmarks, cookies, or passwords.

The pro editor processes only documents you paste, select or drop, or the source you explicitly import by clicking “Open pro editor” in the reader. Source text travels through local extension messages to the new tab for editing, formatting, comparison and preview. It is not sent to the author or another server.

What we store

You can turn the viewer off for a domain. The list of disabled domains is kept in the browser’s sync storage.

If Chrome Sync is on, that list syncs between your own devices with your Google account. The browser performs the sync. The extension author does not receive the list and cannot see which pages you opened.

Reading preferences, including appearance, font size, wrapping, density and the default JSON view, are stored in the browser’s local storage. They are not synced through Chrome Sync.

The extension does not save page bodies, does not upload page content to the author, and does not use analytics or advertising services.

Editor documents remain in tab memory and are not written to local, sync or session storage. Refreshing or closing the editor discards its contents. Copying and downloading happen only when you explicitly choose those actions.

JSON image previews and Markdown images are not loaded by default. A JSON image is requested after an explicit action such as hovering over its address, focusing it with the keyboard or clicking preview. Markdown images still require clicking “Load images”. The image host may receive your IP address and information contained in the image URL. The request does not send the current page’s Referer. The extension author does not receive these requests. External links in the document open only when you click them.

What we do not do

How to delete data

Turn a domain back on in the extension popup, and that domain is removed from the disabled list. Uninstalling the extension lets the browser delete the data this extension stored.

Changes

If the data practices change, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
